چکیده
Abstract To understand the potential of forests to adapt wildfire, we studied genetic architecture fire-related structural, damage and recovery traits in a globally important Australian forest tree species, Eucalyptus globulus . Fourteen were evaluated an outcrossed F 2 population field trial Tasmania, Australia, which was burnt by wildfire 14 years after planting. The also included open-pollinated families grandparental dwarf tall ecotypes used produce population. We phenotypic correlations within performed quantitative trait loci (QTL) analyses using linkage map comprised 472 markers. Ecotype comparisons revealed that almost all under control, with trees ecotype significantly more damaged mainly recovering from lignotubers, whereas recovered epicormic resprouts extending for variable height up stem. Within , size negatively correlated fire positively recovery. Genetic control confirmed detection 38 QTL These accounted 4 43% variation these traits. Several co-located likely reflect pleiotropic effects. However, many independent detected, including crown consumption trunk scorch, resprouting, resprout herbivory, seedling establishment. detected argue genetically controlled mechanisms are responsible

Genetic Variation within Iranian Iris Species Using Morphological Traits
Iris belongs toIridaceae family and it is monocotyledon. Iris is one of the important ornamental and medicinal plants. 34 iris genotypes (14 species) collected from different provinces of Iran were planted at National Institute of Ornamental Plants (NIOP) Iran. All of the species evaluated for 15 quantitative traits and 30 qualitative traits. Results showed that the highest positive correlation...
متن کاملFire and explosion risk assessment in a chemical company by the application of DOW fire and explosion index
Background: Fire and explosion hazards are extremely important in processing units. This study was performed to identify the risk centers, the potential damage caused by fire and explosion, and the days of production cessation in the processing company. Materials and Methods: The present qualitative case study was conducted using Dow’s index in 2015. The fire and explosion hazard index...
متن کاملA fire with global connections
Indonesia has been suffocating under an orange haze for months. By the end of October, half a million people had been treated for respiratory problems caused by the polluted air. Schools had to close and children were evacuated by military vessels in the worst affected areas. At times, the haze even affected northern neighbours Vietnam and Cambodia. The habitual slash-and-burn approach of local...
متن کاملFire and grazing in a mesic tallgrass prairie: impacts on plant species and functional traits.
Fire is a globally distributed disturbance that impacts terrestrial ecosystems and has been proposed to be a global "herbivore." Fire, like herbivory, is a top-down driver that converts organic materials into inorganic products, alters community structure, and acts as an evolutionary agent. Though grazing and fire may have some comparable effects in grasslands, they do not have similar impacts ...
متن کاملInvestigating Effects of a Prescribed Spring Fire on Symbiosis between Mycorrhiza Fungi and Range Plant Species
Fire is one of the incorporate vegetation management practices for grasslands and semi-arid rangelands. It may affect symbiotic relationship between range plants and mycorrhiza. Accordingly, this research was aimed to investigate the effects of a spring prescribed fire on the symbiotic relationships between mycorrhiza and 6 plant species. The study was conducted in a semi-arid steppe rangeland ...
